Chocolate & Hotdogs do not mix!

As a special Valentine's Day treat, we had a little family fondue party. Lil' Kay was pretty excited about it, but the excitement didn't last long. I had cut up a hotdog so he could dip them in the cheese fondue. Unfortunately, he dipped the first piece in the chocolate fondue and stuck it in his mouth. Apparently, that is not a good flavor combo, as he had to spit it out! He wouldn't have anything to do with the fondue for the rest of the meal. But, he did enjoy poking his hotdogs with the fondue sticks and dipping them in ketchup!

I made a simple chocolate fondue by melting milk chocolate chips and shortening in the microwave and adding 1/2 teaspoon of almond flavoring. It tasted wonderful! Especially with bananas! I got the cheese fondue recipe from Kraft foods. I used the variation with the Italian seasoning. It was pretty good, too! We had garlic bread and toasted ravioli to dip in that. It was a fun little Valentine's Day. We didn't really do anything else special, but Lil' Kay was excited about our "feast"!

  1. Yum on the cheese, and the chocolate (not together of course, unless it's cream cheese!). So sorry about the hot dog...that's a great story that I'm sure you'll tell his wife when he is grown and married.

We LOVE fondue! Thanks for sharing this great story.

  3. EEeeeew gross but too funny! I bet Kay had a really good time, regardless.

p.s. The "you've been tagged" game is once again circulating around to some folks, so I'm giving you one to post on your blog. My post will be up later today; in the meantime, here are the details:

    1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.
    2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
    3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
    4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Have fun! Sometimes these are a pain but then when I get to someone's blog and read them I always think the things that they write are totally fun. LOL.
